Carrier Session by Pearson Lanka

A soft skill development program organized by the Career Guidance Unit together with the Department of Statistics & Computer Science and Statistics & Computer Science Students' Association was held on the 12^th of July 2019 at A7 308 hall.

It was held with the objective of developing the soft skills related to professional cv writing and facing an interview.

Mr. Shehan Kumar, Senior Manager - Employer Branding and Engagement, Pearson Lanka (Pvt) Ltd was the resource person for the workshop. Present at the occasion were Senior Lecturer Jayantha Munasinghe, Director- Career Guidance Unit, Dr. D. D. M Jayasundara, Head- Department of Statistics & Computer Science, academic staff members of the Faculty of Science and undergraduates.

20th Anniversary Celebration - DSCS

Department of Statistics & Computer Science Celebrated its 20th Anniversary on 1st of July 2019 with the presence of distinguish guests, former staff members, former Statistics & Computer Science Students' Association presidents, Heads of Departments, Staff and Students of Department of Statistics & Computer Science. Prof. D.M Semasinghe, vice chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Prof. Lakshman Senevirathna, Deputy vice chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Prof. Mrs. Bimali Jayawardene, Dean of Faculty of Science were presented as guests of honor to grace this occasion. The celebrations took place in front of department and in the A7 building. Celebrations started with planting a tree by the guests of honor to commemorate this special day. Then a small ceremony was taken place to appreciate its former staff members, and present staff & non-academic staff who served the department for past 20 years being a strong foundation to its success. The event was successfully organized by Department of Statistics & Computer Science in collaboration with Statistics & Computer Science Students' Association.

Introductory Session by Great Lake

Department of Statistics & Computer Science together with the Great Lake Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. organized an introductory session on "How to build a career in networking" and it was held on 19th of June 2019 at 12.00 noon in the auditorium of the Industrial Management. The session was conducted by Mr.Omal Jayaweera and Mr. Naveen Kumar from Great Lake Holdings (pvt) Ltd. Around 110 students were participated from all the three levels those who are following Computer Science as a subject during their program of study.

DSCS Ice Cream Dansala - 2019

Statistics & Computer Science Students' Association (SCSSA) together with the Department of Statistics & Computer Science, organized an Ice Cream Dansala in order to celebrate the Poson on 14th of June 2019 from 12.00 noon onwards in the faculty premises.

Wesak Celebrations - 2019

The Department of Statistics & Computer Science (DSCS) conducted a "Bodhi Pooja Pinkama" to celebrate Wesak on 16^th of May 2019 near boo tree at the premises of the Faculty of Science. Academic staff, Non-Academic staff and the Supportive staff of the DSCS organized the event and some of the staff members of the other departments of the Faculty of Science were also participated.
