A group of third year students of Department of Statistics & Computer Science, Faculty of science, University of Kelaniya visited Ansell Textiles Pvt. Ltd, Seeduwa on 11th of December 2018. The primary objective of this visit was to get familiar with the industry and its working procedure as well as the experience the real world applications of Statistics. The participants received a vast knowledge about the production process, the way of applying statistical quality control techniques in production process, the Six Sigma concept and also the carrier opportunities in Ansell textile Lanka (PVT) Ltd. The industrial visit provided an insight on how companies work and also useful information related to the practical aspects of the courses which cannot be visualized in lectures.
The industrial visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs). A. P. Hewaarachchi, Senior Lecturer, Department of Statistics & Computer science, University of Kelaniya, with the support of the Mr. Lahiru Fernando, Statistician, and Mrs. Devendra Jayawardana, Manager – Human Resources, Ansell textile Lanka (PVT) Ltd.
