Introduction
Statistics, at present, plays a big role in almost all branches of the development of the country. Hence, there is a strong need in the country to have graduates with sound postgraduate-level training in Statistical methodology, emphasizing practical problems arising in the context of collecting and analyzing scientific data. Master of Science in Statistics is designed so that the students can learn the statistical theories and the applications arising in the industry. The participant will be able to develop their knowledge, improve Statistical thinking and enhance data analysis skills. Also, students can develop key transferrable skills, such as written and oral communication, some programming in Statistical software, time management, and basic research skills.
Program Objectives:
The purpose of this degree programs is to advance the knowledge of a graduate in Statistics and prepare them to work in a professional environment or to proceed higher studies.
- develop the knowledge of Statistical theory and methods at an advanced level,
- acquire skills in statistical analyses using modern statistical techniques and software
- develop a sound understanding of applications of Statistical methods,
- acquire the technical skills for a career as a Statistician and/or to progress to advanced graduate degree
The graduates will be suited and easily adapted to the relevant industry to perform a carrier as a Statistician or Analysist. Also, they will be able to proceed for Advance graduate studies.
Entry Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Honors degree in Statistics or Bachelor of Honors degree in Mathematics/Computer Science/ Information Technology with Statistics as a subject
or
- A Bachelor’s degree with Statistics as a subject,
or
- Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Senate of the University.
