The Master of Information Technology program, intake 2023, at the Department of Industrial Management in University of Kelaniya, began on a high note with the successful inauguration of its 5th batch on 5th August 2023. The event commenced with a warm and insightful welcome speech by the Head of the Department, Prof. Janaka Wijayanayake.  The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Sudath Kalingamudali and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Kapila Senevirathna who through their speeches, inspired the new cohort of graduates to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Mr. Lahiru Karunarathna, an alumnus of the department shared his experiences, providing valuable insights that further enriched the event. The inauguration ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the Coordinator of the Master of Information Technology program, Dr. Dilani Wickramaarachchi. Senior lecturers of the department including Dr. Ruwan Wickramaarachchi (Director- ICT centre), Dr Chathura Rajapakse (Coordinator, Master of Data Analytics), Dr. Keerthi Wijayasiriwardene and Mr. Dinesh Asanka also graced the event with their presence. The gathering included a highly satisfactory count of approximately 70 students. 

Following the inauguration, the students were provided with the opportunity of getting acquainted with the Coordinator of Master of Information Technology program, Dr. Dilani Wickramaarachchi, setting the stage for a supportive and encouraging learning environment throughout their academic journey. In addition, an enlightening three-hour lecture on Computer Systems by Dr. H.K.I.K. Wijayasiriwardhane was conducted for the students. 

The Department of Industrial Management in University of Kelaniya takes immense pride in welcoming these bright minds into its academic community, and the inauguration of the Master of Information Technology program marks another milestone in the department's commitment to excellence in education and technological advancement.

We are delighted to announce that the final PPD event of the first semester was held on the 26th of July 2023 for both first and second year undergraduates of the Department of Industrial Management, University of Kelaniya. The event took place in the university grounds and was aimed at improving the personal development of the first and second year undergraduates. The event featured interactive, engaging and fun-filled activities to improve students’ logical thinking skills, concentration and teamwork skills. At the end of the event, students were allowed to entertain themselves with music, facilitating relaxation in preparation for their upcoming study leave period. Refreshments were provided to all the participants of the event.
