Botanical Garden

For field experimentation and to obtain plant material for teaching programs, the Department of Plant & Molecular Biology possesses a botanical garden with a wide selection of native and exotic plant species and varieties, a unique facility available at the University of Kelaniya. The extent of the garden area is about 1.5 ha which provide facilities to carry out horticultural, aquatic plant and landscape studies. Two protected plant houses are also located in the botanical garden, which is used for modern horticultural practices such as hydroponics and plant propagation.
