STCS Camp - 2018

The Department of Statistics & Computer Science together with Statistics & Computer Science Students’ Association of the University of Kelaniya conducted the ‘’Statistics & Computer Science Camp 2018 (STCS Camp 2018)’’ in Sri Lanka on the theme, “Analytics for a Better Future” and it was held at Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning, Bandaragama on 10th and 11th November, 2018.

Level II students following Statistics and Computer Science were participated on this camp. Apart from the staff of University of Kelaniya, Mr. E.R.A.D. Bandara, Mr. R.A.B. Abeygunawardana, from University of Colombo, Mrs. D.A.B.N. Amarasekara from University of Ruhuna, Dr. M.A.A.H. Jayasiri from University of the Visual & Performing Arts, Mr. M.D.R. Perera form University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Ms. A.W.C.K. Sarathchandra from IIT – Local Wing of University of Westminster – UK, Mr. D.Jayawickrama from ZorroSign Inc and Mr. R.T. Samarasinghe from Lanka ORIX Information Technology Services Ltd. were significantly contributed as resource personnel to the success of the camp.

Objectives of the camp:

  1. To provide a platform for our fellow undergraduates to exhibit their talents in Statistics and Computer Science in practical scenarios.
  2. To equip undergraduates for the Industry.
  3. To strengthen collaboration of fellow undergraduates.

As university undergraduates we need to enhance our relationships with our colleagues, and this event provides a platform to achieve this goal.

Through the STCS Camp students will be able to:

  • Strengthen the co-operation among each other.
  • Improve the ability of students to work in teams.
  • Develop their Social Skills and Communication Skills.
  • Obtain the views and experience the teaching methods of resource person(s) from different Universities as well as the industry.
    • Give an opportunity to share their ideas among the fellow students.
    • Complete the work in a given time period.
