Proudly announcing that we have university color holders every year, students who have excelled not only in sports but also in academics and various extracurricular activities. Colors Night 2018

Colors Night - 2018 which was organized by Sports Council of University of Kelaniya, successfully held, with the growth of the number of our Software Engineering students. Students who participated in various sports including Karate, Cricket, Swimming, Baseball, Basketball, Carrom,Football and Badminton were able to win colors in 2018.

Colors Night 2017

Colors Night - 2017 which was organized by Sports Council of University of Kelaniya, successfully held, with the participation of many numbers of Software Engineering students, than in the previous year. Students who participated in various sports including Karate, Cricket, Swimming, Baseball, Football and Basketball were able to win colors in 2017.

Colors Night - 2016 which was organized by Sports Council of University of Kelaniya, successfully held with the participation of university students from various faculties including our students from the Software Engineering Teaching Unit. Students who participated in various sports including Karate, Cricket, Swimming, Baseball, and Basketball were able to win colors in 2016.

Huawei Seeds for the Future Program

Every year, Huawei selects exceptionally talented students from top universities worldwide. Our students have been granted this prestigious opportunity due to their remarkable talents and capabilities, representing their country in the esteemed Seeds for the Future program in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023.

Huawei Seeds for Future Program 2022

In 2023 Huawei offered two weeks scholarship in China for the students who are having the highest GPA in each university. Ms. Helani Seekkubadu was privileged to have this rare opportunity in 2023.

Every year, Huawei brings together young global talents from top universities worldwide. In 2022, Ms. Chandima Maduwanthi had the privilege of representing Sri Lanka as a delegate at that event in Thailand.

Huawei Seeds for Future Program 2018

Huawei Sri Lanka Representative Office fully sponsored 10 Sri Lankan University students to China for an ICT learning and culture trip in 2018. Ms. Rasika Vijithasena was privileged to have this opportunity.

Hackaholics 4.0

Hackaholics 4.0, a Girls’ Only Hackathon organized by IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of UCSC.

DataStorm 2020

DataStorm , the datathon organized by Octave, John Keels happened in 2020. Our team won the 4 th place after facing many competitive rounds throughout the competition.

ACES CODERS v7.0 2019

Our students participated in ACES Coders 12 Hours Coding hackathon Organized by Engineering Students' Publication Society of University of Peradeniya on 29th February 2019.

HackKLN 2017

HacKLN2017: Inter-University Hackathon organized by the Department of Statistics and Computer Science of The University of Kelaniya in association with The Sri Lanka Inventors Commission was held in 2017. Team Syntax which was mentored by Mr .Inosh Goonewardena of Sysco LABS, was the 2nd runners up of this event

Codezilla 2018

The inter-university open-source hackathon organized by Sysco LABS happened in 2018. Mr. Kekayan Nanthakumar was the 2nd runnerup of the competition.

SAIFA 2017

SAIFA day organized by the Students Association for Industrial and the Financial Analysis University of Colombo happened in 2017. Team Infinity which consisted University of Kelaniya Software Engineering students were able to be the 2nd runners up of this business challenge competition.

Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag Event organized by EGUARDIAN Global Services (Pvt) Ltd at the 75^th Anniversary Exhibition of Sri Lanka Signal Corps was held at the BMICH . 1st runners up were placed by Software Engineering Students.

BIZ MINDS 2017

Organized by the young entrepreneurs association of the University of Kelaniya it was held in 2017 at Commerce and management faculty auditorium. The team consisted of our students got selected for the final 5 of this competition.

YMS Hackathon

Organized by IESL (Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka) and University of Moratuwa in 2017 . After competing with a large number of groups from different universities,two groups consists of our students were privileged to be selected to final 15 groups of this hackathon.

4iR Hackathon 2018

This hackathon organized as a part of SLASSCOM’s vision to brand Sri Lanka as the next IT startup hub, in collaboration with XLabs of Virtusa, the SLASSCOM 4iR hackathon focused on empowering cyber physics. Team Syntax got selected for the final round of this competition.

Code Sprint 3.0

Code Sprint 3.0 startup battle and young entrepreneurship incubator was organized by IIT and IEEE and powered by ideamart were happened in 2018. Team Syntax from the University of Kelaniya Software Engineering was selected into the final 10 of this Hackathon.

QUIZZER 2017

QUIZZER 2017 the quiz competition organized by IEEE students' branch, Sir John Kothelawala Defence University. Our team got selected for the top 5 groups in this competition.

Digital Dreams 2016

Digital dreams inter-university robotic competition which was organized by the Department of Physics and Electronics of the University of Kelaniya. Winner and the 1st runners up both were two teams consist of our students.

MedHack 2017

MedHack, Sri Lanka’s first-ever hackathon to innovate solutions for the health sector happened in Trace - Expert City 2017. Team Syntax selected into the top 5 of this competition among large number of contestants.

Code Sprint 4.0

Code Sprint 4.0 startup battle and young entrepreneurship incubator was organized by IIT and IEEE and powered by ideamart were happened in 2019. Team Synchronize which participated in this competition was the runners up of the competition.

IEEE Innovationnation 2018

Team Gopherbots from the University of Kelaniya Software Engineering Teaching Unit got selected to final 10 of this competition.

YMS Hackathon

LetMeHACK 2018

LetMeHACK v1.0 the first-ever inter-university hackathon organized by the Society of Computer Sciences together with the Department of Computing and Information Systems of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was successfully held in 2018 at the Sabaragamuwa University premises. Team Syntax got selected for the final round of this competition.

SAIFA 2016

SAIFA day organized by the Students Association for Industrial and the Financial Analysis University of Colombo happened in 2016. Two groups which consisted University of Kelaniya Software Engineering students were able to be the 2nd runners up and 4th place of this business challenge competition.

South Asia Conference on Multidisciplinary Research 2019

Second South Asia Conference on Multidisciplinary research happened in Colombo, Sri Lanka 2019. Mr. Chirantha Jananath got selected as the best research presenter in Engineering and Technology Session.

INVENTIO 2017

INVENTIO 2017 competition was held as a part of the Vidya 2017 exhibition conducted by the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. Team Syntax was the 1st runners up of this competition in the medicine category.

HackaDev3.0

HackaDev 3.0 final round happened at the Dialog Head Office in 2017. Team_xChord was the 2nd runners up of this competition.

HackaDev3.0

HackaDev 3.0 final round happened at the Dialog Head Office in 2017. Team SE_Scorpions got into the final 15 of this competition which initially had a large number of competitors.

We Are 2030 UNDP Incubation Awards 2017

This competition was organized by UNDP Sri Lanka and Team Paradox was an awardee of this occasion for their outstanding innovative team idea.

iHack 3.0

iHack 3.0 was organized by University of Colombo School of Computing in 2017 and our team got selected as finalists to this hackathon competition

Mobitel NB-IoT

This Hackathon competition was organized by Mobitel Innovation Center and our students were the 2nd runner up of this competition.

Haxmas 2018

Haxmas, a hackathon competition organized by Rotaract Club of IIT happened in 2018 and a team consists of our students participated in this competition final rounds.

UOJ Hack 2017

Hackathon organized by University of Jaffna and UNDP Sri Lanka in 2017. Team Paradox was selected as finalists in this completion among a large number of teams around Sri Lanka.

Hackadev 2017

HackaDev which was organized by the United Nations Development Programme, Information and Communication Technology Agency and National Youth Services Council happened in 2017 and Team Paradox was able to be 2nd runners up of the competition.

Ahasi 2016

Ahasi the award ceremony happened at the University of Kelaniya Faculty of Science in 2016 and Mr. Kekayan Nanthakumar was awarded as the best photographer after participating in the photo competition of this program.
