The coastal management training programme was held on 17-19 October 2023 via ZOOM at Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. The programme was hosted by the Dalian University and Island research center, Ministry of Natural Resources, PRC with the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management as an initiative under a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries. The aim of this training programme was to share knowledge and expertise on Coastal Management and sustainable development of marine resources and environment focusing on; novel principles and innovative and cutting edge tools used in marine resource management and Protection such as harmonious Island Initiative, Marine spatial planning, green energy cooperation in marine sciences, remote sensing and GIS, tourism- led transformations, marine policy making and other legal aspects, marine disaster prevention and mitigation, coral reef restoration, Protection of marine resources and blue carbon economy.
