‘Mathematics in Nature’ Photographic competition and exhibition focused on Mathematics and nature was organized by the Mathematics Students’ Society was held on the 20th of May, 2015 at the Science Faculty lobby. The occasion was graced by Prof. Kapila Senevirathna, the Dean of the Faculty of Science.
The objective of the event was to provide an opportunity to the student community to explore the connection between the nature and Mathematics and develop their soft skills. Ms. Ahinsa Dewthilini Silva from Faculty of Science (ENCM) awarded the first place for the photograph titled ‘Mathematics behind a snail shell’. Ms. Nishadi Kanchana of Faculty of Humanities awarded the second place for the photograph titled ‘Green Curve’ and Ms. Ishara Chamindu Dulanjana of Faculty of Humanities awarded the third place for the photograph titled Natural Geometry Shapes’. Jury panel was comprised by an expert panel from the Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit of the University of Kelaniya and the Faculty of Science.
