Emergency shut off liquid petroleum gas regulator for domestic household LPG cylinders

Emergency shut off liquid petroleum gas regulator for domestic household LPG cylinders

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is one of the popular fuels used in domestic cooking purposes. Therefore, there is very high demand for LPG fire security systems. An automated LPG fire security system for domestic gas cylinders has been designed and prototype model is constructed. The proposed system automatically takes preventive measures in case of gas leakage.  It includes an electronic circuitry for emergency shut OFF and removal of the regulator from commercially available LPG cylinders, control circuit for switching OFF the power supply of nearby area and transceiver unit for sending SMS to the corresponding people. It has designed to operate automatically when LPG concentration reaches to 200 PPM, the LPG gas inflammable concentration. LPG concentration is sensed by MQ-5 gas sensor and fed into the microcontroller.  Commercially available gas regulator is modified attaching a spring and solenoid valve. The spring is compressed when the regulator is ON. Once a gas leakage of appropriate PPM is detected, a pulse is sent to solenoid valve such that the attached spring gets rest by shutting OFF the regulator. At the same time, a warning message will automatically send to corresponding users and security personnel through a GSM module attached to the circuit. The circuit is embedded with rechargeable battery so that it will work even in power failure. Additional gas sensors are installed in electrical switches located near to the gas cylinder and kept in connected with microcontroller through Bluetooth module to cut-off power to prevent any spark. This product is protected under SL Industrial Design Application No. 13613.
