This Internet independent wireless real time water quality monitoring unit was designed to sense real time water quality and generate automated warning signal in cases where threshold levels are exceeded. The sensors for water quality monitoring system were chosen according to the industry needs. For this prototype design, turbidity, temperature, pH, total dissolved solids, and dissolved oxygen sensors were used. The design can be customized adding more sensors when it is necessary. This unique design is consisting with a LCD display which shows the current values of the sensors. The four LED lights indicate power, status, communication and warning. This type of system is mainly focus on monitoring water quality in domestic use where water supply is considered be clean and good. To monitor the cleanliness and other parameters this wireless water quality monitoring system can be used. As this system can work without the use of Internet, this system can also be used in rural areas. Initial discussions were made with National Water Supply and Drainage Board to commercialize this system and it is expected to carry out field testing in collaboration with them. We expected to use this in the automated rainwater harvesting systems in rural areas where water quality monitoring should be done. This product is protected under SL Industrial design No.13786
