Prof. (Ms.) Priyani A. Paranagama, Chair of Chemistry, University of Kelaniya, has been awarded a research grant (Rs. 11.2 million) to pursue research on “Bioprospecting Endolichenic Fungi from Mangroves in Negambo lagoon in Sri Lanka and Gulf of Khambat, Gulf of Kutch from Gujarat India.; An Untapped Treasure Trove for Discovery of Special Structures and Bioactive Compounds” from the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research.

Dr. (Ms.) K.P.R.N. Attanayake, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Botany at the University of Kelaniya, has been awarded a research grant (Rs. 5.85 million) to pursue research on “High throughput genotyping to expedite the genetic characterization and dissection of important agronomic traits of tea” from the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research under the Indo- Sri Lanka Joint Research Programme.
